Whatchama-CAEHL-it IX
Now I truly, deeply, madly (pahiram, Abi, "Salvage" Garden) realize the impact of Internet on Caehl. On our way to SM Munti (akalain mo, Saturday na naman pala), he was reciting his ABCs. "F is for Facebook... G is for Google... T is for Twitter... Y...is for Yahoo and Youtube..." Alex was smiling and shaking his head. |

A PACK OF BOILED PEANUTS
Stuck in the house for the entire Holy Week, I wasn’t thinking of anything else but boiled peanuts. I wanted to buy the kind that I myself would take time to boil, yung homemade nilagang mani. I mentioned it to Alex but may tindahan naman kayang bukas (that was Good Friday, I think).
The following day, we went to SM Muntinlupa for our weekly grocery-shopping. Guess what, it was our 18th anniversary. Woot-woot, who would have thought that we would come this far? But since we were trying to tighten the purse strings due to a recent financial emergency, I wasn’t expecting for a grand celebration, not even a dinner or a night out. In the fruits and veggies section, Alex pointed out to me the steaming boiled peanuts. Sabi ko wag na, parang tapos na yata ang craving ko.
Later on, as I was preparing to call it a day, there was a tap on my shoulder. When I turned around, there was my anniversary gift – a pack of boiled peanuts which Alex bought from a balut vendor.
Yun na yata ang pinakamasarap na nilagang mani na nakain ko ever.
Belated Happy Anniversary, Daddy! If we made it this far, we’ll even make it farther. I just know.

Whatchama-CAEHL-it VIII
"Mommy, I want to compu," Caehl said one evening, with "compu" as his term for his beloved computer.
"Ay anak, " I said, "Daddy turned it off na. Kasi sayang ang electricity. We don't have money to pay Meralco."
Minutes after, siguro he wanted so much to "compu", he went to me again and said, "Mommy, I want to go to Meralco."
Naku, patay tayo diyan.
