*Disclaimer: I have nothing against the pretty host who has been replaced by another in a recently concluded fan meet. I am not belittling her or her talents, as I am not a professional host like her. This is just my two-cents worth, and I do not intend to offend anyone. My apologies if any offense is taken.*

Siguro cliché na nga when you say, ibigay mo or gawin mo ang  best mo.

As a host and an event person for more than 20 years, no one could say I didn’t do my best or my hosting job well. Even during rehearsals, I would always give my 110%, and laging performance level na ako kahit practice-practice lang, kahit online rehearsal pa yan, or script-reading lang. You can ask any of my colleagues, or HR, or partner-agencies na naka-work ko na. Pag nasa stage na ko, ibang Pam na ko. Kahit walang script. Kahit paos, kahit masama pakiramdam, kahit may dinaramdam, may personal struggles - hindi ko yun pinapansin pag may hosting ako, because I want to give everyone a good time and a memorable experience. 

That’s why I felt bad for the host-fan who said she was hoping she would be given a second chance. Hindi raw niya kasi nabigay ang 100% nya during the rehearsal, na nakulangan ng energy yung Korean director. 

Kaya ang take-away ko dito, always always give your best shot kahit kelan or ano pa yan. It might be an audition, a rehearsal, or yung actual na, dapat laging todo na. Sa stage kasi, para sa akin hindi pwede yung pwede na. Yung ok na yan. The audience deserves more than that. And sa sarili mo, you’ll never know if another chance will come. Gaya nung nangyari. Hindi na niya napakita yung best niya. Well yes, marami pang opportunities na dadating naman, but in whatever we do, we should treat each opportunity as yun na ang last. Para walang regrets, wala kang pagsisisi sa huli. At least you know deep in your heart na binigay mo ang lahat and it could be in any aspect in life – studies, love, career. 

And never stop doing your best, just because somebody did not give you the credit you deserved – even if in the end, hindi ka nakapasa, binasted ka, hindi ka napansin ng boss mo. Or pinalitan ka ng iba. 

And so what if no one is proud of you, be proud of yourself.
