All I Want for Christmas

It’s the time of the year again when each of us is given a sheet of paper where we write down our Christmas wish list. This gives us convenience and saves us time in shopping for gifts for the family. It assures us too that the recipient really likes (read: wants) what he or she is going to get for Christmas.

Yet, I realize that every year, it gets harder and harder. I don’t know what else I want. I find it difficult to think of things that I would like to have. Not that I already have everything. I don’t. I guess I am just a simple girl who enjoys simple things. Please don’t remind me though of my LVs, LCs and pairs of Havs – those are my addictions. And luxuries, yes. But simple things make me happy. Like hankies and make-up, and make-up kits. Or shawls, scented candles and oh my, pens and paper (notebooks, note pads, post-its).  This must have rubbed off on my son, as I saw a “2015 Diary” on his wish list. Like who else but TheGoodGirl’s son would want to have a diary for Christmas. Only Caehl.

I guess what I really want are intangible things – like love, care, hugs. Good health. peace of mind. Safety. Encouraging words, pats on the back, and jokes, laughter and giggles. Time with family, and time with friends. Support from officemates. Inspiration to keep on writing. Phone calls, texts or Viber messages from loved ones. Sticky notes on my monitor or desk. FB likes, tags, blog page views, retweets, favorites. Photos. Voices. Things that touch the heart, and deeds that make me smile. And feel appreciated.

Nothing much, really.

But yes, I do want those 3 Francis Libiran designs for Havaianas – all three of them.

Havaianas 20% OFF - until November 23, 2008 only! At All Flip Flops Alabang Town Center yesterday, my sister Lea asked all of us (Mama, Ate Pinky, Cae, Meg and me) to choose a pair. I gave up my "privilege" and opted instead to get Alex a pair of indigo Top. Ang bait noh! Actually, it ended up the only pair on sale, kasi ang pinili nila yung latest - metal mesh (1995/pair, white/gold for Mama and light gray for Cae, I'm not sure what Ate and Lea got for themselves), and metallic fun pin in black for Meg (1495/pair). The best part - Lea spent almost 10K sa mga lokong tsinelas na yan hehehe Ang saya-saya! P.S. It's Ate's 43rd pair, btw. Buti na lang din, same size kami ni Cae. Pahiram, anak, ha?

2. GMA telebabad is #1! I'm proud to be Kapuso! Dennis Trillo - crush ko for the longest time. Si Richard, hindi ko crush pero I like his nice-guy character (Vergel) in Kamandag. Si Dingdong, lalong hindi ko crush pero na-internalize na niya masyado si Sergio.

3. Pinaka - favorite ko yung writer eh! sino nga ba yun hehehe

Birthday Wishlist

Last Sunday, rousing myself from a horrible migraine attack, I read my sister Azalea's text: "Wat do u want 4 ur bday? Havs? A particular cd? A book? Or wat?"

Honestly, I had nothing in mind  so I texted back, "Ang hirap naman". "Ok", she said, "You still have time."

Really, when it's for myself, I find it difficult to think of a gift. Offhand, I could tell you - a watch for Alex, a cellphone for Cae, a new bath basin for Caehl, a new mop/butcher's knife/new chopping board for the kitchen. See what I mean?

But just to seal this oh-so-thoughtful gesture from my baby sister, I texted her last night to ask for a new pair of Havs High (Flowers or Sun). I already have Hale's Twilight CD and I don't read Harry Potter naman, so I might as well go for the gold . 

Just this afternoon, my kumare Joy asked me the same question. While acknowledging her generous offer,  I just told her that her gift of love and friendship will do.

Well, happy birthday to me! Many many thanks to my family, friends, relatives, officemates, and neighbors who are part of this wonderful celebration of life.

FLASH:  Kuya and Ba gave me a cafe Havs Summer and I got my preto High Sun from Tita from All Flip Flops finally. Papa and Mama treated us to lunch and dinner at Pancake House (magkaiba pang branch ha!). Piya and Meg gave me a dress-blouse. Ketlin gave me a cookies&cream chocolate bar (kahit gusto na nyang kainin). Alex made a refrigerator cake (nag-effort). From CVMD, personalized note pad. My neighbors gave me a fruit basket. And all of my friends texted me. Kumpleto na!
